I really need to be more constructive with my free time. And being "constructive" doesn't necessarily mean making myself into a more productive or financially secure person - I think I just need to feel better about all the time waste doing nothing.
Wow, it's been almost 2 whole years since I've written anything.
Let's catch up...
I'm no longer at the shitty, yet relatively decent paying job I was at during my last post.
I'm now at a shitty and, by all accounts, low paying job which I created myself. (I don't feel like explaining right now.) The only upside is that I have a ton of down time, so it gives me the opportunity to start blogging again. Wheeee....
Let's see how far this goes...

i'm happy that you're back! i feel the same way about needing to feel more constructive with my free time. i wouldn't necessarily say that i have a lot more free time but i am afraid of the routine that comes with living a country that is driven by the seasons... Stockholm has 2 seasons: dark winters and bright summers..anything in between seems to slip between the cracks.
the winter i moved here was brutal on all accounts: darkness, veeeeery cold and constant snowfall. growing up in the deep south, i don't do well with the cold and am not skilled at any winter sports. However since i just moved here i was focused on getting acclimated with stockholm that it was easy to ignore the less than favorable weather conditions, but if this winter is anything like the last winter, i won't survive if i don't adopt a winter sport or pasttime..and staying indoors reading or watching movies all day doesn't count.
This summer however has been amazing...people really do make the most of the sunshine here and that's been a truly enjoyable experience. There are a lot of 'afterworks' which are equivalent to 'happyhours' in the states. I think it's much more common to entertain the idea of hanging out with colleagues outside of office hours...or maybe i'm fortunate that my colleagues are a young vibrant bunch so they like to drink a few or 10 after work. BBQs with BYOMeat is very common in the summertime as well. They are spontaneous and so relaxed and can last until almost midnight since it is still light outside up until that time. My summer has been a mix of afterworks, bbqs and of course a visit from Kat, Kayley and Dinh. Tomorrow I will return back to work after 6 days off and will continue my summer 'routine' until i commit myself to other after work activities...
i am reading a new book - Fishing in Utopia. I highly recommend it for anyone remotely interested in Sweden and curious about why it is/is not alway recognized by the outside world...
